About Company Biography

Angling Publications is a forward-thinking organisation with a deep-rooted link to the sport of carp fishing. Large enough to be professional and small enough to be flexible, we take great pride in our reputation for delivering quality products and excellent service, executed and implemented with integrity and professionalism.

It is 25 years since managing director Tim Paisley pioneered the way for specialist carp magazines, making a huge contribution to the world of carp fishing as we know it today. 25 years later, Angling Publications remains a family business, with our passion for carp fishing remaining as strong as it ever was, our current portfolio of magazine titles includes Carpworld, Crafty Carper and Carp-Trade.

Over the years we have become much more than a specialist publisher of carp-fishing magazines. Our current ventures include the following: the UK’s largest publisher of carp-fishing books, organisers of the British Young Carp Anglers’ Championships, joint organisers of the Carpin’ On annual carp exhibition, and part of the driving force behind the Predation Action Group. We also control two carp waters in Shropshire, Birch Grove and The Mangrove. As well as all this we also have our own online retail store, The Carp Store, this enables us to market our products as well as many others effectively to our target audience.

The team members, the engine room, the driving force of Angling Publications is diverse, accumulating in a wealth of knowledge built on experience and age, mixed with dynamics and enthusiasm, but most of all passion.

Publishing What We Do

Angling Publications was the first company to launch a newsstand magazine tailored solely to carp fishing, we now have three titles to our name. Two for the consumer and a B2B title. Book publishing has always been a part of Angling Publications and we are proud that we have worked with some of the most successful carp angling authors, including our very own Tim Paisley, Rod Hutchinson, Julian Cundiff, Dave Lane, Darrell Peck and Lee Jackson to name but a few. The publishing of our magazines and books is our core business but there’s much more to us than that, take a look at our Other Services section to see exactly what we do to keep ourselves busy!

 Magazine Publishing

The first issue of Carpworld, our flagship magazine title, was published in late August 1988 as a quarterly title. Over the first couple of years ‘quarterly’ soon became bi-monthly, then, when the first newsstand competitor appeared Carpworld went monthly, and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Angling Publications then decided to launch Crafty Carper in 1997, our ‘how to’ title and in 2003 Carp-Trade, our business-to-business magazine, was added to the portfolio published by the company. Our two consumer titles are available both in print and digital.

 Book Publishing

Angling Publications, publishers of Carpworld and Crafty Carper, have been publishing carp fishing books for 25 years. Our vast experience and unique route to market enables us to offer potential authors a variety of different publishing packages to suit large or small print runs. Our services range from proof reading, design and layout, to fully managed production, illustration, print, marketing & sales packages. For more information please contact Tim Paisley.

Carpworld Magazine

CW275_cover_CSCarpworld was launched in 1988 and was the first specialist carp-angling magazine to see mainstream newsstand distribution, paving the way for the future of carp fishing as we know it today. Carpworld has undoubtedly achieved the status of being the biggest read in carp media. The content is the equivalent of a good-sized book every month; each issue has an average editorial content word count of 98,000 words.

Carpworld covers all areas of carp fishing, and is the only carp publication which incorporates a magazine within a magazine. International Carper has its own dedicated front cover, and International regulars include the inspirational Steve Briggs, Tony Davies-Patrick, Andy Chambers, and many other overseas stars who pioneer carp fishing on a worldwide platform.

Carpworld includes big-read features on a wide-ranging number of topics by numerous high-profile names, including the following: Rod Hutchinson, Jim Gibbinson, Kevin Nash, Terry Hearn, Paul Forward, Mike Kavanagh, Kevin Clifford, Nick Helleur, Bill Cottam, Julian Cundiff, Darrell Peck, Chris Ball, Ian Russell, Ed Betteridge, Simon Crow, Ian Poole, Mark Walsingham, Dave Lane, Ian Chillcott… If you are getting the impression that the writing line-up for Carpworld represents a carp-fishing ‘Who’s Who’ then you are right!

The magazine is an aspirational and inspirational read with technical elements, and features news, reviews, interviews, competitions, a regular gossip column, profiles, and, of course, the hugely popular thought-provoking features. Not only does Carpworld have a huge following in its home country, it also gets kudos throughout Europe. We can rightly claim to be the oldest newsstand magazine, and the biggest, and in the opinion of the carp-angling community, the best!

We have been publishing Carpworld for 25 years and it has now become a part of carp-fishing history, and we are immensely proud of our achievements.

The Korda British Young Carpers’ Angling Championships

BYCAC_coverThis is the fun bit… Each year in August we organise and host the official BYCAC, a junior carp angling fishing competition held on the Richworth Linear Fisheries complex down in Oxford. I guess you could say this is our way of supporting the youngsters coming into the sport. The event has gained the backing of Korda who are our Title Sponsor and is also affiliated with the Angling Trust. Our thanks go out to the many sponsors both past and present for their much valued support.

For further information about the BYCAC and to see how you can get involved please contact Jemima Musson or visit our website www.bycac.co.uk

Our waters

BirchGroveAngling Publications control two exclusive waters in Shropshire, Birch Grove and The Mangrove. Birch Grove is currently let on a weekly basis for up to four anglers throughout the summer months and carries a winter syndicate, more details can be found on the website www.birchgrovefishing.co.uk

The Mangrove is a syndicate water, if you would like to be added to the syndicate waiting list please contact Philippa Dean.

The Predation Action Group

PAGThe PAG was formed to research and report on the effects of predation on fisheries and angling in Great Britain. The balance of nature is being destroyed and angling is under threat. Angling Publications’ Tim Paisley is very passionate about this issue and has been instrumental in gaining the support of fisheries, anglers and the industry as a whole to continue to raise the concerns of carp anglers at political level.
